**Polysomnographic Technologist Responsibilities**
- Conducts polysomnographic evaluations (PSGs), multiple sleep latency tests (MSLTs), and maintenance of wakefulness tests (MWTs) as per physician directives.
**Skills and Competencies**
- Proficient in reading, writing, and verbal communication in English.
- Familiar with personal computer operations and relevant software applications, such as electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Committed to maintaining consistent and punctual attendance at the designated worksite.
**Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands**
- Capable of frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and stretching.
- Exhibits physical agility and rapid response capabilities to meet unexpected patient care requirements.
- Requires sufficient auditory and visual acuity, including color perception.
- Possesses fine motor skills and coordinated eye-hand capabilities for object manipulation.
- Competent in employing proper body mechanics for assisting patients with ambulation and transfers between bed, chair, or wheelchair.
- Ability to lift weights up to 75 pounds may be necessary.
- Must adhere to standard precautions due to potential exposure to biohazards, including blood and bodily fluids.
- Effective communication skills are essential, encompassing reading, writing, and spoken interactions, both in-person and via telephone.
- May involve intermittent use of a personal computer.
**Qualifications**
**Education/Certifications/Licenses/Degrees**
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential required.
**Experience** - Minimum of two years as a sleep technician in a clinical sleep laboratory setting.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a respiratory therapist with an RPSGT or SDS credential in an acute care hospital environment.
