Exploration Place seeks an enthusiastic and goal driven manager to lead and help expand our growing Explore Store.

About this Position

The Retail Manager leads all aspects of retail vending and the Explore Store gift shop, creating a dynamic, guest-centered retail experience that extends the wonder of Exploration Place beyond the exhibits. This role blends day-to-day operational leadership with strategic growth, including evolving product mix, driving revenue, and supporting a high-performing team. The ideal candidate brings strong retail expertise, a passion for family-focused experiences, and the ability to translate science and exploration into compelling merchandise. This position will also play a key role in leading the transition to a new point-of-sale system, with experience in platforms like Toast POS or similar system implementations preferred.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position reporting Tuesday – Saturday with evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary.

Education and Experience

Retail experience required. Minimum of 3 years of supervisor/management experience.

Key Duties:

• Managing the store’s inventory, including ordering and receiving products, managing stock levels and conducting regular inventory audits.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with vendors to ensure the store offers a diverse and high-quality selection of products.
• Supervising daily operations, including opening and closing the store, customer service and cash handling.
• Monitoring the store’s financial performance, including sales and expenses and taking corrective action as needed.
